On 4 October 2011, the third production line of Azer-Iod’s Neftchalinsky iodide plant was launched, which will allow to raise output up to 500 tons of iodine a year.

Azer-Iod is the world’s 4th largest company by iodine output, after Chile, Japan and the USA.

The opening ceremony was attended by:

- EBRD, Head of representative office – Francis Delaey;
- Head of Executive Power of Neftchala District– Ismayil Valiyev;
- Head of Neftchala Electricity Network – Malikram Mirzayev;
- Head architect of Neftchala district - Rustam Tahirov;
- Nikoil, chairman – Vasiliy Khamaza.
